4 (ITIL® 4)
Overview
In the first quarter of 2019, AXELOS Global Best Practice released ITIL®
4, the world’s most widely accepted service management framework.
The new release of ITIL® 4 is aligned with value to the business and technology
world, and integration with Lean IT, Agile Scrum, DevOps and digital transformation. ITIL 4
is much more relevant to developers, practitioners and businesses as a
whole through a holistic view of delivering products and services.
ITIL 4 supports the existing investment that people and
organizations have made into ITIL, as it is an expansion on the existing
framework. That investment is protected because ITIL 4 provides a practical and
flexible transition that helps organizations adopt the new ways of working
brought by the modern digital world. For FAQs

However, ITIL V3 (2011) remains as relevant as ever and
continues to be in demand globally by hundreds and thousands of IT
practitioners. All certifications for ITIL will remain valid following the
update and will continue to be recognized as valuable certifications globally.
The presentation illustrates the evolution of ITIL.

Transitioning from ITIL V3 to ITIL 4
We would like to recognize the achievements of individuals who
have progressed through the ITIL v3 certification scheme. To this end, Axelos
has created the ITIL Managing Professional Transition Module. It
is designed for ITIL v3 candidates who are ITIL Experts or who have achieved 17
credits from across the v3 scheme. Those with 17 ITIL v3/2011 credits can:
- take MALC and become an ITIL v3 Expert (which will remain
being recognized) OR
- skip MALC and take ITIL 4 Managing Professional
Transition Module and get the ITIL 4 Managing Professional
Designation
Candidates with less than 17 credits are encouraged to
continue to take ITIL v3 courses to build your credits to 17 so you are able to
transition to ITIL 4 certification. The v3 courses are expected to continue
until mid-2020. Mountainview will continue to offer the ITIL v3 courses and help
you with your certification process.
If a candidate has achieved ITIL v3 Expert, they can take the ITIL
Managing Professional Transition module as
soon as it is released to achieve the
ITIL Managing Professional
designation.
